Cowtown Half Marathon

It was cold a really windy, but my adrenalin kicked in and I ran faster than I predicted. A few of my friends ran the 5K and they waited for me at my fish line. It was so sweet of them to cheer me on. Renée had a soccer game, so Sam wasn’t able to be there. This is how I did:

Bib – 6898

Time – 2 hours 3 minutes and 11 seconds

Overall place – 1525 out of 3678

Sex place – 478 out of 1786

Division 30-34 place – 99 out of 308

Flat Gavin

Gavin got dressed and then decided that he needed a shower. While he was showering, I went in his room and found his clothes like this. It cracked me up:)

Mardi Gras

Jeff, who I work with on the HOA board, invited us over for his Mardi Gras party. They had a bounce house for the kids and lots of food for the adults. Sam embraced the Southern style cooking and ate several crawfish. I did try one after Sam did all the work and just gave me the meat. I don’t think I could live in Louisianna.

Dang it Carter!

"Dany it Carter," is what I find myself yelling serveral times a day. He is into everything. I really need locks for my kitchen cabinets and for my bedroom door. We have to keep our chairs upside down on the kitchen table or Carter uses them to get into the drawers. His favorite is the knife drawer. In my bedroom he pulls out my jewelry from my jewelry box and in our bathroom he loves to get into our cabinets. He especially loves to play with my makeup. Sam already added a dead bolt to our door that leads to the garage because he kept escaping or getting into Sam’s tools. This picture is of a freshly baked loaf of bread. Carter got a chair, pushed it over to the counter, and ate big chunks out of it. I don’t know who told Carter about the terrible twos, but man he has embraced them.

Silly Girl

Sam and I decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day on a day that restaurants were a little less crowded. We actually paid a babysitter and went to Texas de Brazil. We had a great time in down town Fort Worth and I even got to peruse an art gallery while we waited for our table. When we got back to our car it was covered with bird poop, so much so that I was afraid to get into the car in fear of getting pooped on. So don’t park under trees.

When we got home, this is how we found Renée.

Fun with Aubri

The kids had so much fun with Aubri. Gavin was 3 ½ when I had Carter, so no one really remembers having a baby around.

While Joi and Aubri were visiting, we went to the Stock Yards where they herd cattle down the street twice a day.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I started my birthday celebration, after my surprise party of course, but at midnight on February 14th, by watching the DVD that Joi made me of my life for the past 30 years. Alycia scanned in a ton of pictures from my childhood, Sam did them all from after we were married, and Joi did everything else. I loved that so many of you sent in videos. It was so fun to see you and hear your birthday wishes. Thank you Joi and to all the rest of you who participated.

I really had a fabulous birthday. How can you beat spending your birthday with friends you haven’t been with in forever? Sam made me a 30 pancake. I have had a number pancake on my birthday almost every year of my like. Sam has embraced the tradition and has started adding food coloring to the number part.

Joi, Katie, and I went to Babe’s for lunch. It is the most Southern place that we have found here in Texas with the best fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. When ever people come to Texas, this is where we take them.

That evening we just got take out while the kids were at kid’s club. We didn’t want to fight the Valentine’s Day crowds. After dinner we had to take Katie to the airport. I was sad to see her go so soon, but grateful for the time we had together.

This really was my best birthday yet:) Thank you for all the cards and presents. I really have the best friends and family!

Surprise I'm 30!

Sam and some of my friends surprised me with a 30th Birthday Party. I was completely surprised because I was told I was having a birthday lunch the next day. Joi, my college roommate flew in from Tucson, Arizona. Katie, a friend from art education at BYU, flew in from Las Vegas. Lisa Meyer said we were going out to eat with Michalann, but that Michalann’s husband wasn’t home yet. So we went to JC Penny’s and had a great time trying on clothes. When we final went to Michalann’s house and I opened the door, I was really shocked to see so many people and especially to see my two friends from so far away. I guess Sam has been talking to Joi for months and she and Sam spent all day Friday making food and getting ready for the party. Michalann was kind enough to host and Lisa put in a lot of work to make it all happen. I still and so impressed that my sweet husband put this together. He is not exactly a party planning kind of guy and I know he only did it because he knew I would love it. . . and I did! A lot of friends from church were there, some neighbors, and even Wayne from the HOA board with his wife. It really was a fun night and I was thrilled that so many people came to help me let go of my 20s and embrace my 30s!
