Closing

It looks like we won't be closing until the 25th of February, which works out better since Sam will be in Maryland all next week for work.

Offer

We accepted on offer on our house yesterday. We are still waiting on when closing will be but as of now we are set to close on Feb. 14th (Happy Birthday to me!) If that works out we will close on the new house the following day and take the weekend to move.

Rocket Party 1.26.08

The weather cleared enough for the kids to launch rockets on Saturday. Everyone got to take a turn pressing the button. The wind wasn't too bad so we didn't have to go far to get the rocket back. Sam even caught it when it was parachuting down.

Rocket Cake 1.25.08

Gavin requested a rocket party this year. Alycia and her kids came for the party on Friday. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and it was rainy. We still had the rocket cake, which Gavin loved. Thanks for the ideas Joi.

Firestation 1.25.08

Sam, Gavin, and Rene'e went to the firestation with Gavin's preschool group. One of the moms told me at church that she thought Sam had as much fun as the kids.

Presents

I really had no idea what to get Gavin for his birthday. We took him to Toysrus to see what he was interested in and his favorite thing was a remote control truck that could go on land, water, or snow but also came with a $70 price tag. It also was recommended for kids 8 and up. We decided not to get him the car but got Optimus Prime and skateboarding gear instead. When Gavin opened his gifts he completely forgot about the remote control car and was thrilled with his presents.

Happy 5th Birthday Gavin 1.24.08

Sam and I were taking Carter in for his surgery on Gavin's birthday. It was a good thing that G.G. (my mom) knew how to make our special birthday pancakes. (She started it when I was a kid.) Sam and I were home before Gavin got home from preschool, so we had the rest of the day to celebrate with him. He requested hot dogs and mashed potatoes for dinner. I also made him a blue five cake. He got the piece that had his name on it. He ate his name first.

Smart Cycle

We got our kids the coolest toy. It is called a smart cycle and they have to peddle to play the game which teaches letters, numbers, shapes, and begining reading. Gavin loves it the most but the kids still let me have a turn:)

Carter's Surgery

Everything went really well with Carter's surgery. He woke up very angry though. He was thrashing around and pulling his hair, but the nurses said that that was normal. We just put him down for a nap, so that should help. The doctor did say that he had very large adenoids.

Babe's

My mom came to Texas on Tuesday the 15th. She started her stay in Watauga with Alycia. We went down to Alycia’s on Thursday so we could all be together. Our first night there we went to Babe’s. It is a restaurant that has been listed in Southern Living as one of Texas’s best. There are no menus. You can order fried chicken or chicken fried steak. That comes with unlimited salad, hot biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, and creamed corn. The food was really good and the atmosphere felt very southern. We had a good time.

We brought my mom to Frisco on Saturday night and she will stay here until Saturday. We have

had to do a lot of eating out because of all of our showings so we have been having a great time. I also took my mom to all the fabric/quilt shops in Plano.

Carter Visits the ENT

Carter will have tubes put in his ears and his adenoids removed Thursday morning. We are hoping that he will be able to swallow and sleep better without adenoids and of course grow. Please keep him in your prayers tomorrow. We take him into surgery at 6:45am.

Busy Week

I know I have been slacking on my posting but it has been a busy week. We had eight showings, which was a record. Hopefully we will get a contract soon.

Gavin started a co-op preschool. There are seven kids and we take turns teaching. It is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 12:30. I got to teach this week. I think the other moms wanted me to have my turn before I moved. Gavin loves and all the kids are well behaved and I even enjoyed the teaching. I did have a showing during preschool on Monday which was a little stressful to keep the house clean while having six extra four year olds in it. Luckily it was a beautiful warm day and we were able to do a lot outside.

All three kids had their well visits on Thursday. Gavin and Rene'e are very healthy. Gavin was happy that he didn't have to get a shot. Rene'e was brave for hers and only cried a little. Carter is up to 16 lbs. 12 oz. This is the .02 percentile. He did grow and inch since his last well visit and is up to 28". We will be seeing and ENT on Tuesday and a geneticist in February. None of the specialist have been able to determine what the problem is but hopefully these next two will. He also sees someone from Early Childhood Intervention every week.

We spent most of Saturday at Alycia's. We had three showings, so we couldn't be in our house. We grilled and had a good time. Sam and Nick watched the Packers' game and Alycia and I got our Rummi Cube on and did a little shopping.

New Years With the Nelsons Plus Four More Days 12.29.07 - 1.2.08

Nick was working out our way tagging trees, so the Nelsons stayed with us for five days, which overlapped New Years. The kids had a wonderful time playing together. I am so glad that they have cousins that are their ages and live so close. It will be even nicer when we move. To celebrate the New Year we had a lot of good food, movies (which I didn’t enjoy too much because Nick and Sam picked them out), and played a lot of games. Mostly Alycia and I played games and were able to get Nick and Sam to join us for a few of them. The only added craziness was we had two showings during their visit. One of them came with five minutes warning.

No Wasted Food! 12.30.07

I let my kids and their cousins eat the gingerbread house after Christmas and they actually did. Trey was the one that liked it the best and carried around his piece of house all day. He even dug it out of the garbabe when Alycia threw it away.

Nacho Rene'e 12.30.07

This was one of those photos that just showed up one the camera. The mask is Blakes but I am not sure who put it on prissy Rene'e.

Look it fits!

After Rene'e's nap, she put on her new bathing suit from G.G. and wore it the rest of the day. It was pretty cold here (well cold for us Texans) so she wore her turtleneck under the bathing suit. Smart girl!

The next day, while sitting on the counter watching me make banana bread, she leaned in a little too close to the kitchen aid. Luckily it was on a low speed and I was standing right there, because her hair got caught and was wound up in the paddle. I was able to get the kitchen aid turned off before her hair was ripped out, but it was a close call. Alycia was also there to hold her head while I untangled the hair from the paddle.

The next time she wanted to watch me cook while sitting on the counter I said, "Don't you remember what happened last time?" She grabbed her head and ran.

The Launch 12.29.07

The only thing that Gavin asked Santa for was a rocket that would blast off. Gavin got want he wanted and Sam got to have a lot of fun too. We launched the rocket twice and boy was Gavin excited. Now he wants to have a rocket birthday party.
