Stiches

Lindsey and I were planning on teaching the swimming belt loop for cub scouts. Just before we were about to start, Gavin did a back flip off the side of the pool and whacked his head on the stone ledge. It was clear that he needed stitches, so Lindsey called her husband, who is a dentist, and he agreed to stitch Gavin up. Gavin was brave through the whole ordeal and decided not to do anymore back flips into the pool.

Appaloosa Horse

I talked some friends into trying out Let's Art Party. We had a wonderful time and everyone was quite proud of their horse paintings. We brought a lot of food and because I am such a fast painter I spent more time eating than painting:) After our art party, we went to Laurie's house and played Just Dance on the Wii.  It was so much fun but I better stick to painting.

Painting Frogs

One of the perks of my job is my kids get to attend some of the children's classes. Gavin and Renée paint. Carter plays with legos because he isn't old enough to paint. I paint practice paintings to get ready for upcoming classes. It couldn't be more perfect.  The only downside is that the casino carpet makes finding all the legos almost impossible:)

Soccer Bible Camp

I sent the kids to Soccer Bible Camp for a week.  (I know, only in Texas.)  Here is the video that the camp put together.  There is a great shot of Carter 30 seconds in.

Father's Day

We are so thankful that we got Sam back just in time for Father's Day. I actually sent a gift to the hotel in Maryland. Luckily it came before he left. After church the kids and I gave him a home made tape measure that each of the kids wrote a message on. The primary records the kid's responses and put them in the church bulletin. This is what our kids said:
My Dad's Age: Carter - 6, Renée - 29, Gavin - 40 something
My Dad's Job is: Carter - going to Maryland to fix helicopters, Renée - runs companies, Gavin - working on helicopters
My Dad's Favorite Food: Carter - chicken and meat, Renée - earth muffins, Gavin - spicy food
My dad is really good at: Carter - tools, fixing tools, Renée - work, Gavin - helping me with small machines that we make together
I like it When My Dad: Carter - drills some tools, Renée - plays wii with me, Gavin - plays with me
If could buy anything for my Dad, it would be: Carter - a tool costume, Renée - his own TV, Gavin - a roadster
June 19th is also our anniversary.  We made it 12 years.  We will be celebrating with Swedish messages later in the week!

Cub Scout Day Camp

I volunteered for a day at cub scout day camp.  It was held at our stake center this year and the leaders did a fantastic job of organizing it.  The weather was really hot but they alternated us inside the building and outside.  Gavin loved his week at camp.

Gavin made it to the top of the rock climbing wall.

All geared up.

Bell Helicopter

Sam talked to the man he interviewed with at Bell Helicopter.  Now he is just waiting for HR to contact him.  It looks like the Sheppard's are staying in Texas!

Dancing Queen

Renée danced in her first recital with her cousin, Sydney.  It was four hours and 15 minutes of pure torture.  Renée, of course, was adorable during the six minutes she was on stage.  She was in three dances and the finale.  She is in green for tap, rainbow for jazz, and pink for ballet.  In between her ballet and the finale, she broke her crown.  This caused plenty of tears.  She ended the performance on a high note because another girl in her class wasn't wearing her crown either.  My poor boys did really well although at one point Carter picked up a stranger's soda can and took a swig.  He hasn't learned social boundaries.  All in all, Renée had a great experience in dance.

Swim Team

I signed Gavin and Renée up for swim team this summer.  My neighbors were doing it and I am all about car pooling.  They started on Monday and their first meet was Friday.  They both were in the 25 free and 25 back.  Renée still stops to breath while she swims free so her back stroke time was faster than her free.  She was last in both events, but she thinks she won.  Gavin and his friend Tyler were doing pull ups on the starting blocks, and missed the start.  Gavin was in last place, but I don't think he noticed.  Those were the 17th, 35th, and 38th events.  Gavin's next even was 90 so we went to McDonald's to get some dinner.  The coaches told them it would be at about 9:00.  We got back at 8:30 and he missed the event.  He was disappointed, but plans to swim fast next week.  Swim meets are painfully long and poor Carter did pretty good watching in the stands with me.

Renée's Results:
Girls 6 & Under 25 Yard Freestyle 10th of 10
59.38
Girls 6 & Under 25 Yard Backstroke 9th of 9

Gavin's Results:
Boys 8 & Under 25 Yard Backstroke 17th of 17
50.84

Cub Scout Hike

Lindsey and I took the wolf scouts on a hike to Eagle Mountain to earn the hiking belt loop.  We had to leave at 7:30am to beat the heat.  The boys did great and had a fun time.

Fun Saturday

I am trying to plan fun things for the kids to keep their minds off Sam being out of town. We went to the Home Depot Build and Grow Workshop with the Angerbauers. The kids made cell phone caddies. We also went to the discount theater and watched Gnomeo and Juliet in 3D.

Too much fun for Carter.

Welcome to Summer

Carter and I got to attend Gavin's Award Ceremony.  He was given the Friendliest Award from his classmates.  He also earned A Honor Roll.  We are so proud! Gavin worked really worked hard this year.  After the ceremony I took the kids out of school and we went to the water park.
The kids in Gavin's class gave him the friendliest award.
