Fashon Show

Our friends the Van Osdells came over for dinner one evening. After dinner our kids put on a fashion show. Their girls are 9 and 10 and had a whole script written out. They even got Gavin to say, “Walking is so yesterday.” Poor Carter.

New Lens

I got a new lens. It is the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens. I was just trying it out.

Bear Creek Park

I watched Gavin’s friend Seth because his mom works. Gavin and Seth play really well, so it was nice having him. Plus his mom packed us snacks and sugar cookie dough to make. The kids loved decorating their cookies.

We went on a picnic to Bear Creek Park. It didn’t go exactly as I imagined. I thought we would all sit nicely at our picnic table until everyone finished eating. Instead everyone was way too distracted by the water and the ducks. Next time we will eat at home. After our picnic, where no one ate, we went on a walk on the paths. Then we spent some time playing at the playground. It was a beautiful day and hit 71. Not bad for March.

Johnson Road Park

We are on Spring Break this week. Last year we went to Sea World and it was a nightmare, so this year we decided to stay home. We really haven’t done much but play outside and spend time together. Tuesday we spent hours looking for a My Little Pony movie that Renée got from the library. We still haven’t found it, but I did find my missing watch in the chair cushions. On Wednesday, Jayne invited the kids and me over for a movie party in her theater room. We watch the Princess and the Frog. Gavin ditched us for the Science museum with his friend Tyler.
Today we spent two and a half hours at Johnson Road Park. Alycia and I planned on meeting there and then we ran into three other friends from the ward. It was a really nice afternoon. It is amazing to me how different each of my children are at the park. Gavin loves the money bars and loves it when I take his picture while crossing them. He is always asking me to watch this and take a picture of that. Renée is independent, and immediately makes some friends and I don’t see her until it is time to go. She spent most of her time on the tire swing with strangers. Carter loves the sand and running around. He has no problem talking to strangers and asking them for food. Most of the time people feed him because he is so cute and looks like he is two. When I went over to the sand box to check on Carter another mom asked if he was my son. My first thought is, “oh no, what did he do.” This time Carter handed her five dollars and asked her to take off his shoes. I had already told him that he had to keep his shoes on at the park. He had taken the money from Gavin’s room. I am not sure if he was trying to bribe this other mom into taking off his shoes or he was just was being generous.

Dollar Deals

I found some clearanced shirts at Wal-Mart and picked them up for Sam and Gavin because they were only a dollar. Sam’s outfit came with a matching hat.

Gymnastics

Gavin and Renée go to gymnastics every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 7:30. Marci Sparks put her kids in lessons too so we were able to carpool which was really nice the night I didn’t have to drive. Gavin also loved having his buddy Ethan there. The last lesson of each session the parents get to come and take pictures. Gavin and Renée are pretty good and stood out in their class. I was quite proud of them. I also think Renée looks just darling in her red gymnastics outfit.

Carter went to the first four lessons, but after that the teacher asked him not to come back and refunded all of my money. She said he could try again this summer. Every time I drop off the other kids Carter says that he wants to go to gymnastics. Then I ask him why he can’t go. His reply is, “I got kicked out.”

Soccer - here we go again!

We are back into another soccer season. Renée decided that she didn’t want to play, so we only have one schedule to juggle, which is a relief. Gavin is back on the Warrior Team. He seems to enjoy playing soccer but he also enjoys playing with his teammates on the sidelines. When I asked him what he was doing he called pulling his shorts up, “grandpa pants”. Carter and Renée aren’t too thrilled about watching Gavin’s games but enjoy sitting on Dad’s lap. I continue to work on my sports photography.
