Grandma's 75th Birthday

Alycia and I flew to Pennsylvania for my Grandma Gampe’s 75th birthday. It was a really short trip and a really cold one. We got to Pittsburg at 3pm and made it to Altoona at 6. There was a lot of traffic and two tunnels. In PA we don’t go around mountains, we just tunnel through them. We had dinner with my parents and sister, Kendra and then went to the Meadows for frozen custard. They have the best chocolate custard in the world! We visited my cousin Larissa and while there, Kendra convinced Alycia that she needed bangs.

On Saturday we helped get ready for the party. My mom made this beautiful cake. After we were finished we went to Long John Silver’s for lunch, hence the picture of us in the pirate hats. At the party we got to see family have we haven’t been with for years. It was fun to catch up with everyone. During the party everyone told stories of my grandmothers crazy driving. My all time favorite one is when someone asked her to give him a push so he could pop the clutch. He told her that she would have to get the car up to thirty. Grandma drove around the parking lot and slammed into him at 30 mph. She also took Alycia and I in a car wash with the window down, but that is another story.

After the party we ate dinner with my grandma, parents, aunts and uncles, and my cousin Matt and his wife. We stayed there talking until 10pm before we headed to my Aunt Jill’s house to hang out and talk some more. Kendra, Alycia, and I didn’t get back to the hotel until 2 that evening.

On Sunday we had lunch at The Dream before heading to the airport. I don’t think I have ever been to Altoona without at least stopping at the Dream. They really have wonderful home cooked food. So that is what we did in a nutshell. We didn’t sleep much but it was a really fun three days.
