Taffy Pull

I tried another taffy recipe that didn't work.  Usually our taffy turns out rock hard.  This time it was a sticky mess.  It still tasted good.

The Zoo with Aunt Nay and Uncle Jace

Since the weather isn't too hot yet we decided to take Aunt Nay and Uncle Jace to the Fort Worth Zoo.  On our way there Jace saw Raising Cann's and insisted that we get lunch there because he loves it.  It really was fantastic chicken.  We had a great day together exploring the zoo.  We are so glad Jenne and Jace could come stay with us for the weekend.  That evening we got a baby sitter and took them to Chef's Point, one of our favorite restaurants in the area.  Jenne and Jace don't have many good dining options in Midland so they are all about eating out when they come.

Sam Returns

After three long weeks, we get to have Sam back from Tennessee.  I really feel blessed to have such great friends in the area.  People brought me dinner, watched my kids for me, and brought me chocolate.  I would not have made it through these past months with Sam gone so much without the help of such great friends.  Thank you.  Thank you. Thank you to those of you who have been so helpful.  The helicopter is going to Fort Worth, so Sam probably won't have to go back to Tennessee.  We are relieved that this chapter in our lives is over.

Jenne called this morning to see what we were doing this weekend.  They live five hours a way and were missing the city and us of course, They pulled in just after Sam got home from the airport and we headed to Cheesecake Factory.  Poor Jenne and Jace don't have one in Midland and were craving it.

Police Station

Lindsey and I took our cub scout to the police station for a tour.  The boys were very interested and our guide was really great.  Renee really wanted to see the prisoners in the jail.  I really have no idea why, but I assured her that she would not get to see them.  Well, I was wrong.  When we were touring dispatch, we go to see the prisoners in their cells on the security screens.  Renee was pretty excited.

Field Trip Lunch

I was able to go have lunch with Renee while she was on a field trip.  It is amazing how much little things like that mean to her.

To The Arctic on IMAX

Because we are museum members, we got to go to the opening night of the new IMAX movie, To the Arctic.  One of the photographers spoke to us about the filming and then answered questions after the movie.  Those are ear plugs in Carter's ears.  He gets scared at IMAX movies so we are learning the tricks  to helping him cope.
Gavin's questions, "How many gallons of milk does a mother polar bear make in a year?"  The photographer didn't know.
Renee's question, "How did you keep form getting killed by a polar bear?"
The answer - Flair guns
